In short: Faders doesn't collect your personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We (Mayank Gulaty, Ireland) never receive information about you or what you listen to.
What stays on your device
Your favourite stations, listening history, identified songs, settings and alarms are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, your favourites and history sync through your own private iCloud account, which Apple holds and we cannot access.
Services Faders talks to
To play radio and show what's on, Faders connects directly from your device to these services. Like any website you visit, they can see your device's IP address. We don't send them anything that identifies you.
- Radio stations you choose to play, to receive their audio stream and, where available, what's playing (for example the BBC, Bauer Media and RTÉ).
- Radio Browser (radio-browser.info), a public directory, to search for stations and to count plays anonymously.
- Apple ShazamKit, which receives a short audio signature of the radio you're listening to when a station doesn't say what's playing. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Apple iTunes Search, to find album artwork for the song title and artist.
- Apple Maps, to draw the World Map of stations.
- Apple Music, only if you choose to save songs to a playlist and give permission.
- Your own music server, only if you connect one: your Plex or Jellyfin server, to browse and play your music and show its lyrics, and plex.tv to sign in to Plex and find your servers. You approve Faders on plex.tv or in Jellyfin (or sign in to your own Jellyfin server), so we never see your password. The sign-in is kept in your device's Keychain and goes only to your server and Plex.
Purchases
Faders Plus and tips are processed by Apple. We receive no payment or personal details.
Diagnostics
If you share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash and performance reports. They contain no personal information.
Children
Faders doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device, and signing out of Plex or Jellyfin in Settings removes that sign-in; you can remove iCloud data in Settings › your name › iCloud.
